Warholm with slit on True to Tokyo Worlds

Karsten Warholm has rebounded in a two -month training camp in the form of his life at Silesia Diamond League, a timely performance that comes a few weeks before the World Championships in Tokyo.

The Norwegian stormed the hedges of the 400m during the meeting on Saturday in the Polish city of Chorzow in an amazing 46.28 seconds.

It was the third best day of day on the distance, surmounted only by the own world record of Warholm of 45.94 seconds and 46.19 seconds American from Rai Benjamin.

These two times were fixed when the Norwegian won an emblematic gold in front of the American at the Tokyo Olympic Games from Tokyo in 2021.

Until Warholm broke the world record in this round, no one had run the 400m hedges faster than the American Kevin Young in three decades.

Four years later, young’s other timeless 46.78 is only the faster 24th in history.

In the years that followed, Warholm, Benjamin and Brazilian Alison Dos Santos have redefined the exhausting event.

The trio pushed more and more, sharing the global distinctions between them.

Warholm now has nine the fastest 23 times than the best of Young in 1992. Benjamin, who succeeded Warholm as Olympic champion at the Paris Games from last year, also nine and 2022 gold medal in the world of Santos Five.

– “big rhythm” –

“I had a big rhythm and a speed throughout,” Warholm said about his race in Chorzow.

“The time of 46.28 was even better than what I expected. I knew I could do it.

“I mean, I am in this form, but to go out and do it. It’s just something that has to come.

“I am very happy and proud to have been able to push this kind of time.”

Warholm chose to participate in the two Diamond League meetings in China before putting a new best world in the 300m hurdles on its original track in Oslo, then break in the competition.

“I still think my race for the Oslo Diamond League, the world record for the 300m hurdles is my best race this year,” he said.

The training, added Warholm, was based on the speed and consistency of construction in the last 100 meters.

“Now, I think we have built the best version of myself,” he told Broadids to Benjamin and Dos Santos he told the Diamond League final later this month in Zurich, quickly followed by the Tokyo worlds.

“All of this is part of the plan. And I think people should never count us.

“I think we were very intelligent, me and my coach, and we always have plans, so I am not as surprised by this time as everyone.”

Warholm will travel from Zurich directly to Japan for a final training camp there.

“I have the impression that we have a very good plan now, but my goal is now that I have trained a lot, so I’m really convinced that we have done the job, and now it’s just to build the form to Tokyo,” he said.

“I knew I was very fast in the training camps I made. It shows that I am on common sense.

“For me, it was a very good start for the second half of my season. I think it’s promising to Tokyo.”
