The former teammates of the Rugby League died just five days apart

Two former Salford Red Devils teammates with the history of Warrington died within five days of each other earlier this month.

The Salford Club announced that Warrington, born and Raised, Trevor Rabbitt, and Jackie Brennan, who played for The Wire at the end of his career, died.

Trevor, who was 81 years old and a former owner of Warrington ad, played for Salford in the 1960s, after signing the amateur club Cadishead and Irlam.

A few days after joining Salford, he made his first team debut at the age of 18 on March 17, 1962, standing for an unfit jackie against Bradford Northern at the Odsal stadium.

He made 101 senior appearances in the next seven and a half years, his limited opportunities due to the number of quality half-dos playing for the club at the time, although he was a member of the Salford team who went to Wembley in 1969.

Trevor was a significant presence in an exceptional team from Salford “A”, his inspiring leadership recognized by him by taking over as captain.

His last appearance in the first team took place on August 16, 1969, during an equality of the Lancashire Cup in Wigan when he established a partnership with David Watkins, before transferring to Rochdale Hornets for transfer fees of £ 500 three months later.

Trevor’s funeral will take place on Tuesday August 26 at 10:40 am at the Walton Lea crematorium.

Born in Wigan, Jackie, who was 89 years old and made three appearances for The Wire during the 1970-71 season, began her professional career with Blackpool Borough in 1954.

He was chosen for the Lancashire twice in 1958, playing at Stand-Off, his partner in the two games being a teenager Alex Murphy.

Jackie arrived at the Blackpool Willows for £ 5,000 in August 1959 and stayed for 11 seasons.
