Have you noticed what happens when you are angry with someone or something which has happened ?. When we are angry we are hurting ourselves first because the negative emotions hurt us first before it moves or impacts the other person.
In fact when you are angry and keep holding on to that though you are hurting yourself more than the intended recipient. As an example, if someone calls you names once and then forgets about it. Being angry you will keep repeating the same thought in your mind. By holding on to the anger and repeating it many times we are hurting ourselves many times over! Yet we continue to hold on to our anger for years! Budhha summarizes this with a powerful quote “Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.”
After I wrote the above note on Facebook I came across a gem from Naval Ravikant which also expresses the same feeling but puts it across in crispt tweet and yet delivers a better message.
